Virgo, the Virgin
2012 Horoscope Forecast
Virgo the Virgin
preparing for your debut
The last time Mars was retrograde in Virgo was in the late 90's, so the big news this year is that the Planet of War will be in your sign until July 3rd, 2012! The first thing that comes to mind about Virgo is usually not how aggressive you are, but with Mars firing you up, you may not be able to hold back. You have a strong desire to attend to the details
of life and improve things, which can be a gift that you bring to humankind.
Unfortunately, just as you were really getting warmed up and ready to go, Mars loses steam and turns retrograde on January 24th. Just days after that, on Feb. 3rd, Neptune will enter Pisces and your 7th house of significant others, making life a bit fuzzy and throwing you off course. You may find your closest relationships are challenged by this transit, and it will be up to you to practice and model respecting each other's boundaries. Your true challenge will be to balance the image of the ideal with the beauty of what is real, and that may not be easy.
Fortunately, you will have time to reflect and review your own desires before Mars turns direct again on April 14th, giving you a chance to put your strategy into action. You have a chance to make the world a better place, dear Virgo… just don't get hung up on perfectionism.
Learn everything you can while Jolly Jupiter hangs around your 9th house of philosophy and travel, giving you an opportunity to broaden your horizons. You'll be able to increase the depth of your knowledge and prepare your best arguments for where you want to go and why you should be given passage. You can expect good fortune related to law, education, and publishing, so don't be afraid to put yourself out there. This can be an incredibly productive time for you as both Mars and Pluto infuse you with super-charged creative energy. Get your affairs organized because after Jupiter enters Gemini and your 10th house of career and reputation on June 11th, you could be busy making public appearances. You can expect your career opportunities to multiply, with many of you making the most of your many talents by holding positions in more than one field.
Saturn remains in Libra and your 2nd house of personal finances and values for most of 2012, giving you more time to restructure your budget and give priority to what you value most. If you have been having difficulty making ends meet or can't seem to figure out 'where the money goes', this is your opportunity to tighten your belt and see what it is you
really need, and what really isn't that important.
If you have been out of work, that should change soon as Jupiter enters your 10th house in June, so until then, make do with what you have. Reduce, recycle, and reuse is a worthy mantra to have no matter what your bank account balance is. On October 5th, the taskmaster enters your 3rd house of communication and community, beginning a 2½ year journey that will impact your daily comings and goings. This is a good time to consider a serious course of study that could help you in your career. You may also find that your responsibilities to your siblings and neighbors increase as the Great Taskmaster gathers steam.
What you can do for your loved ones (and what they can do for you) is the theme as Venus begins the year in Aquarius and your 6th house of health and service. Acts of kindness and helpfulness will mean a lot, especially during the weekend of the 13th, when spiritual Neptune joins forces with Venus. This is a time when compassion can truly change hearts, so
make the most of it. After January 14th, the planet of love lights up your 7th house of marriage and partnerships, creating fireworks with Mars in your 1st house of personality. Ego energies run high and could either fan the fires of passion or put them out entirely. Mars turns retrograde in your sign on Jan. 24th, so what happens now will continue to
be an issue for the next 6 months. This could also affect your career and home life, so consider your actions carefully.
Venus enters Aries and your 8th house of sex and shared resources on Feb. 9th, urging you to connect more deeply. Your creativity and ability to renew and refresh could benefit your closest relationships, so think about ways you can inject new life into your sex life. After March 5th, sociable Venus in Taurus enters your 9th house of long range travel and publications, combining with expansive Jupiter. Could this be the year you finally see the world or become published in wider circles?
Venus sets up camp in Gemini and your 10th house of career and public reputation on April 3rd, where it will be for some time to come due to the retrograde cycle. This should set up an interesting dynamic with Mars in your first house of personality, and you can expect to create quite a buzz wherever you go. Jupiter will join her in June, making everything you do seem even bigger and bolder. It should be smooth sailing until Venus commences retrograde motion on May 15th, potentially causing problems with your superiors or authority figures. An Eclipse on June 4th may bring the saying, “If you meet the Buddha in the road, kill him” to light. After Venus turns direct on June 27th, you'll have a much better idea of where your career path is leading, and who will be willing to take you there.
Your friends and associates come into focus when Venus enters nurturing Cancer on August 7th. This should be a welcome relief… you have been too much work and too little play lately. Things have changed a lot for you this year, and it may mean that you are starting to run in different social circles as well. Virgo tends to see friends as being the same as family, so it will be important to you to forge new, meaningful bonds. However, be prepared to rest and recover behind the scenes after Sept. 6th, when peace-seeking Venus moves into your 12th house of secrets and solitude. This is traditionally a time of clandestine affairs and unrequited love, but in more modern times often manifests itself as a period of compassion towards yourself and others. Practice random acts of beauty and kindness as a birthday gift to yourself and to the Universe.
An extra 15 minutes of fame may be granted to you on Oct. 3rd, when Venus sparkles in your 1st house of appearance and personality. Now is the time you will be able to put yourself out there to good effect. Interestingly, Jupiter will turn retrograde at about the same time in your house of career and reputation, insisting that you follow through with any promises you have made. If you have been working with planetary energies and have created a brand that truly represents you, this can be a time of reaping hard earned rewards.
Money and what you value take center stage on Oct. 28th, when Venus activates your 2nd house of finances. The great news is that Saturn is no longer holding you back here, and you have had plenty of time to really think about what you value and how to earn a living that is in line with those values. During the last week of November, warm and loving Venus meets with stern and burdensome Saturn in your 3rd house of communication, helping you to give a tough message in a kind and loving fashion. You'll need to get used to Saturn's energy here, and Venus will help soften what is likely to be 2½ years of challenges related to communication, siblings, and neighbors. As the year ends, Venus warms your 4th house of home and family, making you feel like perhaps you really can go back home in some ways.
A Lunar Eclipse on June 4th and a Solar Eclipse on Nov. 28th happen in your 4th house of home and family, almost guaranteeing that you will see a significant change in your household this year. Change is often painful and difficult and I won't pretend that this won't be.
The important thing is to understand that these changes are inevitable and the way you respond to them is the key to your success. For some, it may mean the loss of a parent, while others may have to pull up long-standing roots and start over somewhere else. The changes should happen fairly gradually… beginning in June and culminating at the end of November. Make the most of every moment and appreciate what you have as you make room for a new phase in your life.
Neptune finally leaves your 6th house of work and health on Feb. 3rd, helping to clear up any nebulous health issues you might have been having. However, Mars retrograde in your sign from January 24th – April 14th could sap your vitality and cause strife in the workplace for you.
You must find a healthy way to release stress on a regular basis if you want to get through this period without wearing down. You may also find yourself wanting to tell your boss to take this job and shove it… and it may be that it is time for you to move on, but try to do so without blowing up any bridges. Breathe in peace, breathe out stress. Repeat.
The big news is that jolly Jupiter will enter your 10th house of career and reputation on June 11th, giving you plenty of opportunity to reinvent yourself publicly as you see fit. Many of you have been working at one career while dreaming of another and this is your year to branch out.
Joseph Campbell advises to Follow Your Bliss and I second that sentiment. When you do what you love, no matter how humble or simple it might seem, you become rich in countless ways. This year, find a way to do what you love and believe in, and you won't have to worry about where your bread and butter will come from.
Ah, Mercury retrogrades! You can expect the Winged Messenger to go retrograde three times a year for about three weeks each time. During retrogrades, you can expect miscommunication, delays in travel, and breakdowns in machinery and appliances. Usually these breakdowns are due to neglect or lack of attention to detail and the retrograde period simply brings this to the surface. It's often a good idea to hold off on making any important decisions, purchases, or signing contracts when Mercury is retrograde. Brides planning weddings should certainly consult an astrologer to avoid scheduling the Big Day during a retrograde! On the positive side, Mercury retrograde is excellent for research and investigation. It is a time to go over everything carefully, looking for loopholes, mistakes, and weaknesses. Because Mercury is your ruler, you can expect to feel these transits keenly. Here are this year's Mercury retrogrades and how they are likely to impact you:
March 12th – April 4th Mercury Retrograde in Pisces, 7th House
You can expect everything you say to be held against you once Mercury turns retrograde in your 7th house of partnerships! Open enemies will be just waiting for you to slip up and say something they can skewer you with. Think twice; speak once if you want to make it through without having to defend your own words. After April 4th, Mercury moves forward again, giving you the opportunity to clean up any verbal messes you might have caused.
July 15th – August 8th Mercury Retrograde in Leo, 12th House
This is the best time of year to do research or work alone. It's also a good time to reflect upon the events of the past year and how they might impact your opinions and how you express yourself. Speak less and listen more… you'll be glad you did. After Aug. 8th, you'll have a much better idea of what you think and feel about recent events and will be ready to make your opinions known by September.
November 6th – 26th Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio, 3rd House
Mercury retrograde in your 3rd house of communication is especially frustrating… and yes, your car is likely to break down and the check will probably be lost in the mail. But at least you know what to expect, and can take pains to make sure your backside is covered. Send that package by insured mail and check all of your warranties. By Nov. 26th, you'll know what went wrong and how to fix it.
Your Full Moon happens on March 8th, and will represent the culmination of what began back in late August 2011. Mars gets into the action on this one, so you might have some fallout to contend with. Your closest connections (including your significant competitors) will be prominent in whatever comes to pass. It won't help to pitch a fit but it will be good for you to have a documented list of your grievances as well as what you have done to make improvements in your career, home life, and relationships. Forewarned is forearmed, right?
Your personal New Moon occurs on September 16th, signaling new beginnings for you. You've experienced a lot of change during the past year and are ready for a fresh start. If you've been thinking about getting a makeover, this is a good time to try new things. Make a wish and focus your intentions on what you would like to be in the future. It's really all about the journey, so make yours one that you enjoy without worrying too much about the final destination.
Eclipses indicate change in the area of life they impact, and are often felt for much longer than regular lunations. In cases where the eclipse makes a close aspect to planets or angles in your chart, they can be felt for up to a year. Here is what to look for during the eclipse cycle of 2012:
A New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Gemini on May 20th signifies changes and possible endings in your career or public standing. For some, this might mean a change of job that has been planned out, or a much awaited retirement. For those of you who have not been as conscious of changes that need to be made, it may mean a surprise loss of employment. Others may find that these changes may strongly affect your home life, while others may find that big changes at home necessitate a job that allows you to spend more time with family.
A Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius on June 4th only solidifies changes that began with the New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Gemini two weeks earlier. In this instance, your home is the scene of most of the activity. You have worked very hard for the past several months with Mars in your sign, and much of what you have worked for is coming to fruition. Although this is a time of adjustment, it can be a very happy time of enjoying your hearth and home, surrounded by your loved ones. Appreciate the simple things and try to stay balanced.
A New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Scorpio on Nov. 13th may signal the beginning of a big change in the way you communicate or even a shift in your opinions and ideology. Truth speaking may become your calling card as Scorpio penetrates deeply, desiring to expose anything that is not functioning properly or is no longer working. This may make you unpopular with siblings or neighbors for a time, as most people do not enjoy wake-up calls. The good news is, you will be able to help others rebuild on a better foundation.
A New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius on Nov. 28th echoes what was begun during the New Moon and Solar Eclipse on May 20th, when the end of one phase of your life came into view. For many of you, it may mean a new home, while for others it may mean moving back in with family (or having family come to live with you!). Some of you may have to contend with the loss of a parent or some other event that is a milestone of life. You may find that on one hand, your life has never been better, but on the other, your sorrow is great. “Congratulations” and “I'm so sorry” may go hand in hand for some time.
That's it dear Virgo for 2012, hope you enjoyed it. Keep up with our daily, weekly and monthly predictions through the year for a more in-depth analysis.
