Happy New Year!Don't sprint into 2010, as it'll end up by being more of a lurch. However, with a little grace and patience, it'll be a leisurely stroll, with the odd bit of chaos thrown in. To start with, Mars is in reverse in Leo and in the grip of a grapple with retrograde Mercury in Capricorn, right on the bell. And, that's in the wake of an exhausting or emotional Lunar Eclipse in Cancer on New Year's Eve. Slow down and take the pressure off, especially on Jan 4 when you'll get a lot of griping or niggle from officialdom or authority. Review career status or options and muse on the possibilities.Be wary of social or romantic engagements on Jan 8, as there'll be tension or excessive heat. Care with finance is also advisable. Don't be wasteful or extravagant. Jan 13 will see Saturn turn retrograde in Libra, under pressure from Mercury reversed and Lady Moon. Conflict or testing encounters or communications will add gravel to the ground you're treading, so keep a cool head and a cautious tread as you take yourself step by step through a situation that needs diplomatic care or responses. Jan 15 sees Mercury roll forward, putting career matters or dealings with authority back on track. As there's a New Moon and a Solar Eclipse in the sign of the Goat that day, you can close the book or end an endeavour with a career or professional link. On Jan 18, Venus glides into Aquarius, bringing friends and social life into the frame, especially if groups or community activities are involved. Giant Jupiter rolls into watery Pisces that day, taking you on a journey to the inner reaches, seeking revelations or the unfoldment of matters creative or spiritual. The Sun hits Aquarius on Jan 20, focusing on the community of friends, special projects or social action. There are sparks and fireworks as first Mercury then Venus then the Sun strike a flint with Mars retrograde, awakening past projects, fanning old flames or reviving ailing ventures. Get something moving but don't spit sparks yourself. Take on the test of career or authority as Pluto and Saturn clash on Jan 31. Going Over ItAs does Warrior Mars in Leo, so also does Mercury spend the whole of the month in a single sign, that of Capricorn, coming out of retrograde on Jan 15. Until then, there'll be some confusion, or the odd misunderstanding affecting dealings with authority or professional matters. Getting organized (or getting others organized) could prove something of a problem. Be patient and try to think ahead of the game. Jan 13 will test your decision-making, creating delays or delayed communications, or swing into a low, while Jan 26 will see a feisty moment or two. Keep your cool and respond well to the pressure. You will have to squeeze through a testing time, taking things step by step, dealing with authority or professional concerns without getting lost in a backwash of awkwardness or constraint.
