    Neil Giles

Neil Giles is a storyteller, astrologer and historian. He is a novelist and journalist and has written for theatre, radio and television, as well as many articles for Astrology on the Web.
His passion for mythology and the ancient traditions has led him on a journey through Astrology, Tarot, the Runes and the Celtic Ogham Script as a seeker and personal reader.
He is the author of a number of works on Celtic and Teutonic spirituality, including Odin's Runes and The Oracle of the Trees.
For Neil, the storyteller's path reminds us that while the wisdom of the past still lives, we can take wise action now and in the future. Always a traveller, Neil has now returned to the glorious Southern Highlands of New South Wales, on the East Coast of Australia.

    Long Term Goals
With the Sun in Leo, set for a conjunction with Saturn, it's important to stay back a little. Consider your situation. Evaluate 'long term' goals or dreams. Immerse yourself in things that will develop form or meaning over time. You'll need to be physically active but it won't serve to try and push things along too early in the piece.

Strong reactions or interesting opportunities come through others. Choose the path that fulfills you. Make choices as to where work is going to take you. Change or opportunity will come with the Full Moon on Aug 8th. Work or health concerns will feature. Make decisions based on what's important or defining for the future. You may spend time negotiating conditions or terms in the weeks that follow. Dramatic events or unusual individuals affect what you want. There may be hidden influences or concerns in the situation or the people around you. Be perceptive and don't give way to exaggerated responses. Don't let others influence you by the rush of feeling or intensity. Consider the implications or the consequences of what's on offer. Make choices based on the ideals or beliefs you value.

Take care of any health concerns that emerge. You may choose a new or more independent situation or approach. There may be a loss of contact with familiar avenues or people. The Sun moves to your sign on Aug 23rd, bringing a New Moon for you as well. Happy birthday, Virgo! Set a new course. Gain the skills you need. Get going.
    Fluctuations
The busy messenger is in Cancer, completing a reverse motion cycle that began in July. You may be in touch with old friends. You may resolve outstanding matters or end a break with a friend. You may review shared goals or the people you've held them with. Mercury enters Leo on Aug 11th. Slow down. Keep your own counsel. Give time to your creative or spiritual life. You may make an important decision. You may consider matters or events from the past. You may take counsel from a spiritual elder. Don't rush ahead because of concern about the future. Mercury moves to your sign on Aug 27th. Step up. Get involved.
    Forward Then Backward
Venus begins in Cancer. Friends feature. Social life and gatherings are on the agenda. You may make contacts or form a favourable alliance. Opportunity for new connections will come through social life. Venus enters Leo on Aug 13th. A sudden development with a partner may alter the pattern of social life. You may retreat or choose your own company, taking yourself out of social circulation. You may need privacy to deal with emotional or health matters. You may experience a break or separation in a situation or a relationship.
    Action Stations
Mars is in your sign. You'll need a strong activity cycle even though other influences urge a more cautious or considered approach. Get on with healthy exercise and useful activity. You'll be feisty. You'll be hot as well so give the horizontal aerobics some space in your life. The trick is to keep on the move without trying to advance too quickly. There may be surprises or a surprising development with someone close. There could be an eruption of feeling or excitement. New possibilities may suddenly emerge. Changes with home, family and emotional life are on the cards as the month ends. Be prepared for shift of some kind.
