You'll leave behind the uncertainty or confusion of Jupiter's recent passage through Aquarius, when you attempted to solve the problems or alter the horizons of your career, without really knowing what you wanted in their stead. Now, new contacts, friends, teachings, ideas, groups, or involvements will not just be the icing on the cake, they'll be the cake itself. You'll travel, study, expand horizons or enrich your life through exotic or interpersonal connections. Put yourself into a bigger picture and see where you fit. You'll have something to offer, there'll be something others have to give and all will benefit from the mutual exchange.
A spiritual, creative or compassionate cause may be at the heart of what you do. Luck will certainly be with you, as will opportunity, if you make the choices of the heart. Watch for testing times in dealings with authority, or with decision-making, in the last weeks of May, then get ready to delve into the inner world as the Lord of Fortune moves to Aries and your solar twelfth house on June 6. The surge forward you've just been through will begin to turn back on itself, urging you to look to your inner resources in order to strike the gold of revelation (or inspiration) and, in time, open yet another way forward. You will seek new paths of devotion or learning, with Jupiter in Aries until September 9. From there, Pisces is the flavour again and friends, groups or action in the community will be back in the frame for the balance of the year. Jupiter reverses in Aries on July 23, returns to Pisces on September 9, then moves forward on November 18.
If Jupiter rules the macrocosm for you, Saturn, measurer of effort rules the microcosm, as he rolls through Libra from the start, bringing pressures, burdens, new tasks, people or skills to your sixth house of work and health. Focus on the little things, the details and the defining routines that will set new tasks underway, or finish with the old ones. Prepare for a change of personnel, or a change of state with people in your working life. You'll take on the demands or duties of a new line of work, or a new style of healthcare. Dealings with others or interaction with the public will be involved and it will be important to finely tune the scales of daily life, so that you achieve the right balance in taking care of business and taking care of 'you'. There'll also be care or attention for another, or for other people, in the raft of responsibilities. If health is a key factor, diet and social activity will be pivotal in setting themes for a new regimen. For some, there'll be an adjustment in tasks or functions, while for others there will be a complete change with work and its applications. A new duty or demand will become the axis of your daily life. Saturn will lead you, not on a merry dance, but on a determined journey to the refinement of an art, the perfection of a skill, or the flourishing of a sense of worth or value in that which you truly want to do. Find the right balance of the individual perfectionist and the publicly accessible. You may deal with educated or socially accomplished people. However, a brief return to the arena of past activities or concerns emerges later in the year. Saturn turns retrograde in Libra on January 13, setting in place a further clash with Pluto, the Lord of the Underworld, in Capricorn. Communication, study, travel, academic or legal matters and the wider world will, by dint of pressure or demand, set new parameters for the health and welfare of your daily life. On April 6, Saturn returns to Virgo, returning the focus to lifestyle, romance, recreation, creative ventures and children. Past matters will need a resolution, while outstanding matters will need to be neatly packaged and tied for delivery. Go over the ground of old endeavours with a fine toothcomb, sifting out the rubbish while leaving the rest of it in order. July 20 sees the Measurer of Effort return to Libra, charging your house of work and health with the demands of duty and the routines of necessary effort. Don't forget to balance the scales though!
 Relationships: the Journey to the Heart 
Venus the goddess begins in Capricorn and your solar ninth house on the heels of a union with Pluto, Lord of the Underworld. If you're looking for fulfilment through romance or finance, open up to the big wide world—or seek a far horizon. For the singles, you'll find the one you're looking for through adventure, or by mixing with people of different custom, culture or social scale. If you're not looking, then just have an adventure anyway. Those in a relationship will seek to expand your horizons through travel, study or widening of your circle of contacts or interests. A trip or a new qualification may be just the flourish you are looking for to restore that feeling of romance, or uplift your lifestyle. It's a year to be clear, determined and practical over the matter of past baggage. If you're carrying the burden of it needlessly, put it down and leave it by the roadside. Friends or social groups may bring unexpected or unlooked for romances this year. Be wise! On October 8, Venus turns retrograde in the sign of Scorpio, your house of partnership. Prepare for a reversal or a break in a current association, which will come out of necessity or a change in personal feelings. Equally, you'll come back into contact with people from the past to spice up old connections—or remedy past offences. If there is something that needs fixing, be honest and direct in the process of doing so. Some of you may find you have a rival—or someone openly hostile in opposition to your efforts. Social or emotional tensions will run high, so be careful to maintain the cool that allows you to negotiate difficult or testing situations. On November 8, Venus reverses into Libra, shifting the focus of attention to work or health and the people you're connected with via these twin domains. While it's possible that an overdue fruition will come for some, the forward thrust of love or money will elude many at this time; you'd be well advised to lay something in reserve as a bolster or a fail-safe. This can be in either emotional or fiscal capital. The goddess begins to sweep forward once more on November 18.
Home and Family
Sticky stuff or sticking points arise around matters of home and family as the year begins, all due to Warrior Mars reversing in the sign of Leo. If you feel that you are going backwards in these arenas, that could well be the case. The trick will be not to push too hard against it, but rather work around the obstacles, or even step back and let something be for a time. This is not a favourable time for renovation or DIY, unless it's brought about by necessity or emergency. Don't hit your thumb with the hammer, watch sharp edges and work around a feisty male temperament. A crucial player could be away from the home or tied up somehow, especially a male.
March 10 sees Mars moving forward, easing the pressure and establishing some flow or forward movement as blockages or delays are overcome. The mood will be more amenable, but watch out for a slight return when Mercury is in reverse in your sign after mid April. You'll find a better solution to family or domestic concerns once Saturn has run his final course in Virgo from April 6 to July 20. If you sort your lifestyle and love life, home will bring the sweetness of comfort and security the Bull just longs for. Remember that Mars will be in Leo and your solar fourth house until early June, so work to keep the peace and maintain safe practices with work.
Work and Health
As we have seen, Saturn sets his print on your house of work or health, especially from the start until April 6, and then from July 20 to the year's end. Be ready for a new line of duty or action in daily life and new connections with work. You may engage with professional, qualified or cultivated people, or you may find that an augmentation of tasks or a complete change of direction, takes you into contact with the public. One of the tests with this transit is the meeting of a double demand. Saturn in your solar sixth house will up the ante with work or necessary effort and, for some, you'll start a business or a new kind of occupation altogether. However, in balance with this, the demands of a healthy life, including exercise and diet, will also have to be met. It may seem as though involvement at one level will take away from the other, but the true skill will be to manage the scales so you get the best of your efforts in both worlds. Expert or professional advice will be of benefit in health and work. The important thing is to look ahead for the next few years and make the plans and subsequent efforts that will carry you through to a new platform or foundation in daily life. The period of June 6 to September 4 sees Jupiter, the Lord of Fortune, sweep briefly into your solar twelfth house, unravelling threads of the existing fabric, urging you to look at matters hidden, creative, or spiritual. You'll be opening a new line of development without actually knowing the outcome and, in doing so, you'll uncover conditions, abilities or interests that you did not know were there. In time, the presence and revelation of these will alter the direction of life, especially in 2011. The power of this period for change is emphasised from May 27 to August 14 when revolutionary Uranus also makes a brief home in Aries, one that will become his long term abode in the years ahead. Something will emerge from your inner world and interests, but it will bring an unknown quantity and an unpredictable outcome. A new fire is soon to burn as an old one is extinguished—and next year will begin to reveal where all this will lead. Be a little careful from September 23 to October 23, when two successive Full Moons in Aries and your solar twelfth house will exhaust you, test your energies, or try to blow you out of the water with upsurging feelings, revelations, or even a little spray from others. Apply the cold compress and take a remedy for what ails you.
Career and Finances
Career aspirations will take shape in two different areas of endeavour. With Saturn in Libra, it'll be the hard work, the development of a personal style or health regimen and the undertaking of new tasks or activities that will get you on track. Look to streamlining what you do or changing it altogether. New associations or associates will add flavour or ideas. You'll still have to put in the hard yards though, making sure the foundation of what you do next is both stylish but unshakeable. Get a grasp of how to work with people within a social context. If you've been doing that already, learn to do it better. The other arm is Jupiter, sailing into Pisces on January 13. While there'll be a gap as the Lord of Fortune slips into Aries from June 6, the theme is nonetheless a strong one in your sense of advancement or expansion this year. Jupiter is back in Pisces on September 9, but, throughout the year, friends, connections, good social relations and a sense of where you fit into the community... all of these will set the scene for improvement or advance with career aspirations. Learn to do the 'meet and greet'-foster the links that will bring you opportunity, advantage or simple interest. The wider the circle, the better the chances you have of success. You can move ahead as you come to the attention of people of status or people in the wider community. Conversely, the social context in which you work will feed you, support you and stimulate your ideas and your practices. Go fishing and you'll be surprised at what you can catch. Keep an eye on the period from April 20 to July 20, for at this point, Chiron also slips into Pisces, just briefly introducing the possibility of an important new friend, idea or practice into your life, someone or something of an unusual or radical nature. This will also be a harbinger for the years ahead.
Mercury moves into retrograde motion three times a year for about three weeks each time. This phase heralds a time of confusion and misunderstandings that can affect arrangements, travel, transport, appliances, machinery and communications. The breakdowns that occur are a function of neglect, inattention, simple misunderstandings or component failure. They will often bring to the fore the very contingency we should have planned for and didn't. When the retrograde phase occurs, watch out for such possibilities, as well as putting off major decision-making or the signing of crucial documents and agreements. We tend to miss things while Mercury is in reverse motion and then have to come back and do them again. A process of review in the retrograde phase can efficiently show where problems might lie and help us with damage control or the mending of things. Double-check arrangements at these times! What you think you've said and what others have understood will often prove to be two different things.
The New Year begins with Mercury in reverse in Capricorn, striking a spark with Mars the Warrior, also in a retrograde cycle in Leo. Communications, overseas links, matters of study, travel or the law could all bring tests or confusion to block the way ahead, checking the efforts of the already frustrated Bull. Don't make decisions or jump on impulse for the way ahead may not be what it seems. There will be changes of plan or a shift in the big picture as to where things will go from here. There will be false impressions through news or information or there'll be delays that affect lines of communication. In-laws, academics or folk from other lands will feature but where is it going? Cross-cultural clashes will occur or a past issue or concern will need discussion, especially in the wake of the Lunar Eclipse that signalled the demise of 2009. Pace yourself and double-check arrangements until January 15, as Mercury moves forward, stepping from the shadow on February 4. Problems will generate their own solutions or bring fortuitous benefit via confusion or delay.
Mercury's second reverse cycle is in your sign from April 18. As they say in the classics, remember your lines and don't fall over the furniture. You'll need to review presentation, personal communications and the job of getting something started or done. A change of style will be on the cards or you'll return to an old involvement or activity. Communications will personally test you as you struggle to get a message across to someone close, disagree with partners or associates or find you're confronting the past, needing to discuss or resolve old matters. You'll have to take on a new skill or style and will need time or practice to come to grips with it. Pressure will build around home or family concerns as Mercury soon rolls back to square Mars in Leo. You can settle an outstanding domestic matter or re-enact a past drama in the home. It's time to put on your thinking cap around your personal style or how you get a point across. Something new is required! You may just struggle with your P's and Q's or spend too much time wandering in the inner spaces. May 11 sees Mercury move forward, emerging from the shadow on May 29.
Mercury hits reverse gear for the third time in Virgo on August 20 and lifestyle, romance, children, creative activities or recreation. Communications in this area will be testing or subject to delays. There'll be a lack of precision, indecision or you may find yourself with a conflict in arrangements or schedules. You'll be at odds with a romantic partner or there'll be a crucial absence or hiatus. Minor injuries, health concerns or problems with work will interfere with lifestyle, romance or recreational activity. You may need to upgrade skills or develop new activities for the satisfactory effort. There may be problems with equipment or devices, so take safety seriously if you're doing anything heavy duty or dependent on good working gear. You may return to a past activity or connection or you may just need a time out from current involvements. There may be a change of interest or inclination that affects your love life or lifestyle activity. Be clear in communications, orderly in approach and, above all, read the manual in case of difficulty. Mercury moves forward on September 12, emerging from the retrograde shadow on September 27.
The fourth cycle of Mercury reversed all but rings down the curtain on 2010. The busy messenger turns tail in Capricorn on December 10, throwing communications or travel demands out of kilter, especially where study, legal matters, overseas links, in-laws and those from overseas are involved. There'll be a melee of confusion or a sudden shift in the big picture that will heave arrangements or plans out of the window. Review the situation, talk to all involved again and be sure you have the info or correct dates with regard to trips, courses or dealings with the academic or legal world. You'll have to build a better picture than the one you have. All of a sudden, it's about money or financial involvements as Mercury flits back to Sagittarius on December 18. Add a Lunar Eclipse in Gemini on December 21 to the casserole and you'll find that things are definitely stewing, and you'll be one of those things. Be calm, cross out options that no longer apply, talk to relevant people and wait for December 30 when the busybody messenger finally begins to run forward once more.
Lunar Life with Lady Moon
Trust to luck and to the value of past efforts as your New Moon comes on May 14. You can spice up your personal life or smarten your image, as fortune will serve you at this time, or you'll find you're on the right side of opportunity. Friends or good connections will add something to the mix. Presentation or purchases will be the order of the day; you'll be able to add to your CV or to your personal possessions, thus adding a touch of class or substance to your life. Make sure there's no confusion or pipe dreams woven into the mix. A simple and practical step ahead on a personal level is the sought-after outcome here. You may attend an occasion where people of status are gathered, or you may attract the attention of someone of importance or position. Your Full Moon on November 21 is a trickier undertaking, when you will find yourself at odds or in conflict with a partner or associate. There'll be tension, and either confusion or outright deception as to what is really taking place. With this lunation, the thirtieth degrees of both your sign and that of Scorpio are in the frame, indicating a finalization—or even a parting of the ways. However, benign aspects support the lunar blaze, so you may be able to reach a new agreement or understanding and transform your operating practices or the foundation of the situation. Make sure you're neither being taken for a ride, nor turning out the smoke and mirrors yourself. Be guided by high principles and aspirations, not by couching the truth in uncertainly. Though Mercury and Mars are moving in reverse, a Solar Eclipse at the New Moon in Capricorn on January 15 will likely pass subtly rather than making a powerful impact. There'll be a minor upset or changes with study or travel arrangements. In-laws or academics may be quarrelsome or absent from the designated assignation. There could be a little tripping over the tongue or a kafuffle over the menu in a foreign restaurant. Otherwise, there may be nothing more or less searing than delays or minor disruptions that will actually in the end bring unexpected benefit to any tension or confusion. Float on through and don't give it too much thought, other than the odd farewell or weary sigh.
The Lunar Eclipse at the Full Moon in Capricorn on June 26 will put plans or schedules with travel, study or overseas communications into disarray. You may not be able to go where you wish, speak to whomever you wish to speak to or get the info or perspective that you need to move ahead. Devices or people may be a point of failure or you simply may have to alter your direction or put up with delay because of change in the big picture. You may be waiting on an outcome, a decision or a communication. There'll be difficulty with in-laws or a legal situation will be a source of discontent or frustration. You will lose a link or say goodbye to a contact. Something or someone that once seemed to be a vibrant or viable association will pass. Family members, emotional people or children will make their presence or their absence felt as the lines of development or communication take a dip. You'll probably say goodbye to someone or something here, so make sure it's on a 'one more time with feeling' basis. It may be that an expected cyclical end alters the pattern of daily associations or movement. December 21 brings a Full Moon and total Lunar Eclipse in the sign of Gemini and your solar second house.
