The Festival of the World Service [part two] In part two of this article, Malvin Artley continues his examination of the meanings inherent in the current Full Moon in Leo, the Festival of World Service (Group Endeavour). This powerful Full Moon is the Full Moon for Aquarius (since the Moon is always full when in the opposite sign to the Sun). He discusses in this section the esoteric rulership of Aquarius, along with the role of the "Lunar Lives", the unconscious yet intelligent components of our being. Malvin also publishes a regular astrological newsletter, to which you can subscribe by clicking the link at the end of this article. Just as our dense bodies are composed of trillions of individual cells, so our etheric bodies are composed of countless tiny lives known as etheric atomic lives - the true elementals. They come together united to form that body of manifestation in the same manner that the cells of the dense body work together to give us our coherent form. In addition to that, all of the bodies - dense, etheric, astral and mental--work together to form that coherent entity that we know and love so well as the human persona. We are a living representation of group unity and group process toward a united goal, whatever our goals might be. The bodies which go toward the formation of the persona are not self-conscious, though. They are blind, in esoteric terms. They see not the spiritual purpose that has called them all together - any more than we can see the greater purpose that has brought us all together as people in the various groups of which we form a part. They are interconnected, but not inter-conscious; united, yet separate; aware of surroundings, but not aware of individuality; intelligent, but unthinking. They are, therefore, instinctive - highly intelligent, but instinctive, nonetheless. Lunar LivesIt is the Soul that confers self-consciousness and the sense of united purpose and a higher goal than the personal. When the type of instinctive life thus described is encountered it is known as a lunar life. These lives limit consciousness and they are kept imprisoned - locked into a form because they know neither their true identity nor their purpose, at the behest of some higher force or Being. Hence, they are called the Prisoners of the Planet. How many times have we felt ourselves to be prisoners in our own skins, buffeted about by the whims of urges, cravings, desires and illusions, only ever seeing part of our truth, glimpses of our purpose - if that much - and always asking ourselves why we find ourselves in our particular state at any given moment? We are prisoners with our prisoners. Yet, we are free within our true higher nature, for in that nature, we called our bodies into being. What a mess and mass of conflicting energies we are! We can be all wise and full of Light one moment and as dense as a stone in our consciousness the next. The planet that rules the Hierarchical aspect of Aquarius is the Moon, as one would expect - dealing as it does with lunar lives. In and through Aquarius we see the conflict between the Soul and its bodies, the service that we provide to those lives through the benefit of our dominion over them and the refining of those bodies to suit higher purposes, the effect that a truly united group effort - via our own essential nature - can bring about in the world and what can happen when we reach out in service to others and help them to see the same things within themselves. The ruler of the consciousness aspect of Aquarius - Jupiter - rules that united functioning and the resulting expansiveness of consciousness. It rules the cohesiveness of the group (any group) and the supply of vitality that comes through that unity. In medical astrology Aquarius rules the bloodstream, which carries vitality and nutrients to all the cells of the body, in the same way that prana gets carried throughout the etheric body. In the orthodox ruler - Uranus - we have the urge to better conditions that group work brings and the magic that results when we live in accordance with the higher purpose or Life that called the group or body into being. We Are The PathIt has been said that we are the Path, and that we have no need to seek outside ourselves for the life we need to live or for our greater purpose. We have also been told that the greatest service we can render to others is to clear away our own inner impediments and to redeem that within ourselves that has kept us each prisoner for so long. By moving into greater Light, thus raising our own vibration within ourselves, we raise the vibration of everyone around us--whether they want it or not. When we remember that we are all woven from the same thread - figuratively and literally - then we can begin to see a glimmer of truth as to how such a thing might be so. Through the three rulers of Aquarius - Moon, Jupiter and Uranus - we have the tale of group service and discipleship spelled out for us: recognition of our form and our impediments (that which must be freed) [Moon], the banding together in a united effort to achieve such purposes and the expansion of abilities and energies that comes through that [Jupiter], and the eventual freedom that follows upon a task well done and a plan skillfully implemented - the freeing of the Prisoners of the Planet within our care - Uranus. There is so much here for all of us to think about and the solutions to so many of our problems in life had we but the eyes to see those solutions - or to even recognize that there might be a problem.
