The Festival of the World Service [part three]
To conclude this discussion, Malvin examines the direction of our service for the year ahead in the light of the degrees for the full moon figure. Malvin also publishes a regular astrological newsletter, to which you can subscribe by clicking the link at the end of this article.
"A watchdog stands guard, protecting his master and his possessions."
In this symbol we have the crux of our problem in terms of service. When we regard the world today and look at the prevailing attitudes of the world leaders and the populace in general, we can see that there is very much we have to safeguard, both for ourselves and for all for whom we care. Civil liberties have taken a beating, the world lives in fear, especially in the West, there is a general mistrust of the leadership in the world at the moment and we all feel the stresses and strains of our own individual lives along with all the preceding heaped on top. The admonition here is not to guard oneself out of fear, though. The call goes out to safeguard the divine that is within each of us to insure that nothing of the world can blot it out and that the freedom of the Soul will win the day over the undercurrent of fear that exists now. The safeguarding of hard-won freedoms is a sacred task and one for which we should be forever diligent. It is beholden on each of us to do our small part in that and to see to it as well that we manifest as much of the freedom of the Soul within our own lives as we can. It is also an indication to us that we stand guard over our own inner nature that we not sully ourselves with the baser emotions as things inevitably come up so that the flower of our Souls can bloom in fullness.
The symbol for the Moon's degree shows the general trend in terms of the masses of the world in our service to them in the coming days. It reads thus:
"A volunteer church choir singing religious hymns."
The call to volunteer our services has never been stronger, except in times of dire conflict. With the cutting of government services throughout the world at an all-time high, the need for our giving of time and resources is also further indicated by this degree. But, we should "make a joyful noise" in all our works, too, because - little as the forces of materialism realize it - their days are numbered. It will soon become apparent to everyone in the world just how important it is that we all stick together and unite for the greater good. There is good cause for celebration these days. The seeds of revolution are in the air. All we have to do is look into the history books to see the warning signs. It does not have to be a bloody one, though. In fact, there have been countless revolutions where not a tear or drop of blood was shed, and we see it in our own lives and around us every day. Any revolution is a breaking free into better conditions for all involved. They can be small or big. It is up to us to decide. But, in that vein, the degree for Uranus in this figure bears a look. It reads:
"A squirrel hiding from hunters."
Are we not all a little like the poor squirrel - hiding from perceived threats, closing our borders to people who want nothing more than better conditions for themselves and their loved ones, hiding our heads in all manner of escapes when the world seems too hard a place and the society in which we live seems so unfair? There comes a time when we all must stand - or outwit the "hunters". There is change afoot, and nothing will stop its progress. And, we asked for it, whether we know it or not. The time for deciding our course of action is now. There is no freedom in hiding from issues or from being stopped dead in our tracks from foolish actions, either. It is a time for the most skillful living we can produce, and we can - and must - evidence that.
And, on a final note, we have the degree for Jupiter, which shows how united effort can best be applied in service this year - and it is a most interesting symbol. It reads thus:
"A Ouija board."
This is nothing short of calling on our inner guidance for the needs of our service. It is only in the silent moments when we can hear the inner group's calls to us. We each have our outer and inner lives. We are also each part of outer and inner groups. And, of the two, the inner ones are more important, for they speak to our essential purpose. It is only as we can align with that inner purpose that our lives take on the meaning they should. We expand greatly in our outer contacts and in unity with others on the outer planes when we have that constant inner connection with our spiritual "home". So, when we expand our time to include communion with the inner worlds every day then our outer life begins to move with the magic of the Soul's timing and work.
Only when we take time for the higher life does our outer life truly clarify itself. There is no need or space for fears such as those that grip our societies these days. Our situations are easily resolved, provided we can gather enough spiritual and social momentum. The world calls out continually for our service and our uniqueness. Let us all see to it that we do a little - or a lot, if we can - each day, to set our little prisoners free. In doing so, we free ourselves as well and enter into expanded consciousness. Every petty fear, every negative trend, every separative thought, every unnecessary limiting factor in our life, every bad habit that we eliminate sets free a little prisoner--and our Selves. There is always a two for one sale on in the freedom department - and that's a hard bargain to beat! Enjoy your new-found freedoms, my friends. It couldn't happen to better people!Much love to you all,
