The Christ Festival [part 3] Malvin concludes this stimulating article on the Christ Festival with an examination of the influence of Chiron, the wounded healer. Healing and self-sacrifice release the soul into the joy and power of life's majestic wholeness. Malvin also publishes a regular astrological newsletter, to which you can subscribe by clicking the link at the end of this article. Lastly, Chiron deserves a mention here. Chiron is found at the apex of a “Y” configuration with the Mars and Jupiter square. Chiron brings healing through self-sacrifice and the recognition of where we may best serve others, both to affect their greater freedom and quality of life and thus to effect our own greatest healing. The degree symbol again brings in the realm of the nature spirits, and reads thus: “A nature spirit dancing in the mist of an iridescent waterfall” 26 CapricornIn our service to others and in the misty memories of the past around our own wounding we are apt to forget the absolute joy that is life and the healing power of nature in all its majesty. The soul shines through the mists of our moving emotions and paints a prismatic, yet obstructed view of the many paths we could take through life. Yet, when all the various colors are traced back to their source, there is but one light and one Path. Mars square Jupiter cajoles us to take a risk and to experience life to the fullest. Yet, in our pain we forget the early enthusiasm for life that we had as children. In the roar of the waterfall of our emotions our own inner voice is drowned out temporarily as we focus on externals and become deaf to our higher Muse. But, the beauty of the waterfall can transport us back to the one Light, the stillness borne of inner reflection and the playfulness we have lost through being safe in life rather than daring by realizing that the roaring water we hear is but propelled forward by the power of love cleansing us and moving us inexorably to peace and freedom. In our true nature we move in and out of the water as if it were not there and dance our path through life as if there was naught else but dancing. In our outer life we see only mist and fandango. In all healing we must first dare to think that we are, or can be, whole again. Then we must act as if we are. In drawing out that wholeness and goodness in others, too, we make ourselves whole again. Aries rules a class or Hierarchy of Lives that reached liberation in the solar system that preceded ours, yet still remains connected with us. They are not named, but they exemplify the concept of beauty, of the grand geometry of the manifested universe we know and who give the impulse to higher, or White Magic, to our little world form levels far beyond what we can comprehend. They carry and impart the energy of “Unity through Effort”, and this is the truest and highest expression that any Aries individual or group can manifest. The energy of the Christ is Love (Brotherhood) itself and there is no greater unifying force known to us at this time. Little as people may realize it, Aries carries this urge toward unified effort through united struggle and ultimate achievement over all obstacles. Most people associate Aries people with being headstrong, abrasive pains in the neck—which they can be at times. Then again, equally unsavory things can be said of every sign. But, if you want a person who will break out of old patterns, who will rush in and do a job where all others stand in fear, where the enthusiasm for what they do can be infectious and who will see a thing through to completion (of course, all this when they are highly developed), then look no further. They may act childish at times, but the child-like wonder of the world is strong in them as well. Whereas the average person would often be heard to say “I do not believe that I can do that.” the Aries will be heard to say “Why can I not?”, and will very often prove that they can indeed succeed where so many others fail. So, as this year progresses and so many things present themselves as obstacles and limitations, look back upon this time and ask “Why not?” Take a chance on life and push your “comfort zone” a bit. Life will do it for you if you do not, but your self-esteem will be more than rewarded if you make the effort yourself, and you will have taken many steps forward on the path if you would only but make the first step—and then continue. But, life is not for walking alone. Hand-in-hand we go through life, always interdependent and unfolding in love together. And, in our united effort the communities we build eventually became the world community. There is no true separation between people any more and the time for seeing eachother as somehow different is well and truly past. Like any good teacher, the office of the Christ teaches through the surmounting of obstacles, much more than it does by streams of words. The value of life is in the experience we gain, not in the words we read or the stories we hear—and the only way to gain experience is by taking a first step, treading the chosen way, and learning from whatever confronts us. Hopefully we do so with loved ones. Hopefully we will soon see that all people are loved ones. Happy learning! Much love, Return to the start of The Christ Festival ![]() |
