    The Solar Eclipse is Blue...
ArchangelSubtle Meanings of the New Moon in Aries [part two]

In part two of this article, Malvin discusses the vast creative potential that can be unlocked under the reign of Aries. The current eclipse cycle is one which is replete with spiritual power, along with the attendant temporal risks. Malvin also publishes a regular astrological newsletter, to which you can subscribe by clicking the link at the end of this article.

There is tremendous creative force indicated through this configuration of four planets. Add to this the fact that Aries is a powerfully creative sign as well, and we have a scenario wherein a vast creative potential can be unlocked for those who know how to go about it. Aries is said to transmit the Light of Life itself. It is a dim and flickering light in Aries, but one that grows steadily. It has been called the "search light of the Logos, seeking that which can be used for divine expression”. This new moon can be the starting impulse for many a new creative project, for any new moon also represents the commencement of the period of gestation, of conception. They are a particularly potent time for women, because it is a sort of initiatory portal wherein a woman comes in close contact with the Yang side of her nature and balances her naturally Yin nature. Through this merging of Yin and Yang many new things are possible, both for women and the world at large. Of course, this happens at the beginning of every Chinese month, and every month does mark the commencement of a new phase in the cycle of the year. What is fecundated at the new moon is given birth at the full moon from the standpoint of archetypal energies, when the full glory of the life that was conceived at the new moon is revealed. This last statement would bear much insight if meditated upon, especially with regards to work on the inner planes of Nature.

Mercury is retrograde in this figure, indicating communications will either be strained or along a different path than usual. Retrograde Mercury is better utilized through inward reflection rather than outer doing. The reason so many people have trouble with retrograde Mercury phases is precisely because they do not look inward during those times but, rather, try to force things and issues. Mercury is always the revealer of the greater Light, the messenger between the higher and lower worlds, the liquid light of kundalini as it coruscates through the organism and quickens the life for those who can utilize it. Some amazing mental feats can be achieved in this period if one is properly tuned to this phase of Mercury, and this is indicated for us in this figure by the trine to Pluto by Mercury. Mercury is also sesquiquare to Jupiter, which gives an added expansive note that to the situation.

Saturn is well aspected in this figure, forming a trine to Uranus and a sextile to Jupiter. Uranus brings through the new structures that are needed and removes old limitations. It gives the impulse to better conditions. With the trine to Saturn there is indicated a general ease with which plans and structures can be implemented. The sextile to Jupiter also adds to the use and general building quality of this configuration. Some marvellous new structures can be conceived at this time if we would but turn our gaze inward and see what is being presented to us. The Sun/Moon conjunction to the North Node further indicates the possibility that many new things may well be on the horizon. Saturn also sextiles the North Node and helps give solidity and structure to what is being brought about.

The symbol for the degree of the Sun/Moon conjunction bears examination. It reads thus:

"A duck pond and its brood."Aries 30 degrees

In this rather idyllic symbol, we come to the crux of the matter for this new moon. This symbol evokes a sense of tranquillity and calm. What we see in the world today is in distinct contrast to that. Violence is on the increase throughout the Middle East and the festering tensions (also represented by the Mars/Pluto opposition) are headed toward explosive pressures. But, the highest expression of this symbol is one of tranquillity. The symbolism of new life as represented by the ducklings fits in very well with the Aries symbolism. The creative impulse has finally given birth. The ideal has become substantial and all is as it should be. It is only through a calm, persistent focus that ideas can be effectively brought into reality. The depths of the water, as represented by Pluto, give support and nourishment to the new life. The mother has given birth to her brood and they float upon the calm waters of conflicts resolved and impulse followed through. There is no struggle in this. Everything follows its natural order and comes through in its own divine timing. In the world of human affairs there is also no need for struggle. Simple calm reflection and the following of Nature’s cycles and the cycles of the Soul will inevitably yield the desired results. All human authority is temporal. Nature persists throughout the millennia.

I would like to add to this symbol a symbol I was given last night on the inner planes. It reads thus:

"An old, crippled Indian chief is honoured by his tribe as he slowly makes his way to his final resting place."

It is also the state of human affairs the authority must constantly change hands. Human power structures are always in flux and the pressures of civilizations demand this. All systems and symbols of human authority eventually become old, crippled under their own weight and must eventually move on to make way for new life. If the authority figures and structures have served their charges well, then all due honour should be given them. But, move on they must. There is a growing chorus of dissatisfaction throughout the world regarding the power structures that have been in place since the Second World War. People everywhere are jaded around government and politicians. This is especially true in countries possessing the older democracies. Some of those governments are becoming crippled through their very bureaucracy and the age of such structures. Watch carefully for the seeds sown in the coming days. The Wesak eclipse will precipitate much of what is being seeded now, and it occurs over the Middle East.

Since my last sending to you I have been given some brilliant opportunities in the departments of adaptability and love as a principle of redemption. In that letter I wrote that many old situations would come to their natural end and in learning to work in cooperation with the forces involved, manifold possibilities can open before a person. I find myself at a crossroads now with many paths branching out before me (not to worry, I shall continue with these letters for some time to come), in true Aries fashion, and the seeds of new paths have been planted in very good soil. Little did I know what those words would bring to me at the time I wrote them, but the possibilities are exciting and I look forward to life with a renewed vigor and excitement.

I was awakened one night shortly after the Aries Full Moon by a helicopter buzzing around the neighbourhood. Seems some of the local boys in the ‘hood were being a bit naughty with people’s car tires. Any way, I couldn’t sleep, so I went for a walk down to the beach. It was a clear night at about 5:00 AM. The first rays of the Sun were gracing the eastern horizon and the reflected Moon was shimmering on the calm ocean water as she slowly sank toward her daily rest. There was not a sound except for the gentle splashing of the water (and the distant helicopter). As I stood there I realized that I was alone with my thoughts—there was not a soul on the beach and the calm of that scene transported me to a state of deep reflection. Then it dawned on me what a beautiful symbol nature had provided me for my present situation. In front of me the Moon reflected the light of past efforts and desiring to me from the mirror of the timeless ocean. The past was setting and a new day was dawning behind me. Then I turned and faced the growing light and I was filled with gladness and expectancy of what was to come, for I knew that I had prepared myself well for such eventualities and that I would be given ample recourse to apply what I had learned over the last cycle of years. I stood there at the midway point on the shore between the silvered years of the past and the growing golden light of the coming days. All I had to do was to choose a path that felt correct and toward the highest good and to follow it. I couldn’t go into the past. I would drown. The only possible paths were along the shore, where there were no people but beauty abundant, or into the rising Sun—toward breakfast (spiritual sustenance).

In these coming days we will all be presented with situations that will bring choice to us about our life’s paths. Every choice brings a responsibility and a promise as well. The most interesting thing is that we do not have to exert ourselves to make the choice. All we have to do is to be as one within the moment of that choosing and the answer will be provided. We do not make the choice. We are the choice. Seldom do we realize the potency, promise and eternal possibilities that every moment provides to us. Though this may seem ludicrous to some, for those of us who have experienced it there is no further need for discussion. And when we realize as well that our lives at that moment provide the most amazing variety of symbols about where we are in that moment, then the language of the soul becomes manifest to us and life is truly an open book for all to read. The love that can flood through us when we make such connections can sustain both us and all around us, for when we open to such potency it pours through us and is as a resonating influence in the lives of those around us—and I am speaking here of love in all its manifestations, for everything is bound together by the myriad differentiations and threads of love.

In this extension of the Christ Festival and the bridge to the Wesak Moon let us be mindful of the call of the silent moments in our lives—those moments in which the soul whispers its intent and livingness to us. Nothing thrills as much as calmness and there is no louder cry heard from the divine than from the stillness of our inner nature. Let us make our moments pregnant with purpose, so that the soul manifests its life fully through us at every instant possible. In those silent spaces our souls give us their dispensations. And when two or more people share such moments together and in common purpose then the magic that is Love and Life floods out into the world, and the majesty that is Soul stands revealed for all to see and feel!

    Many blessings to you all,

    Malvin
