He rules our optimism and aspirations, including our interests in faraway places, travel, foreigners, academic and artistic types, cultural endeavours such as publishing, higher education, structured personal development, healing, government and religion. Jupiter is a risk-taker, so also rules gambling and speculation, adventure – and moving into unknown territory.
Pluto and the Galactic Centre
It is significant that at this time dark Pluto, the Lord of the Underworld, has returned in retrograde motion to the conjunction with the Galactic Centre, turning direct in this degree on September 6. This point, the centre of our galaxy (the Milky Way), was discovered in 1932 and is thought to contain a massive black hole with the mass of some four million times that of our own Sun. It has a significant effect when aspected, inclining people to take a central role in affairs and to have a sense of cosmic destiny, often associated with a crisis of faith.
