December 2009 MONTHLY HOROSCOPE FORECASTS by Neil Giles
Neil Giles is a storyteller, astrologer and historian. He is a novelist and journalist and has written for theatre, radio and television, as well as many articles for Astrology on the Web. His passion for mythology and the ancient traditions has led him on a journey through Astrology, Tarot, the Runes and the Celtic Ogham Script as a seeker and personal reader. He is the author of a number of works on Celtic and Teutonic spirituality, including Odin's Runes and The Oracle of the Trees. For Neil, the storyteller's path reminds us that while the wisdom of the past still lives, we can take wise action now and in the future. Always a traveller, Neil now flourishes under the subtropical climes of Murwillumbah in northern New South Wales, a lovely spot on the Eastern seaboard of Australia.
With the Sun in your sign, it's happy birthday! Venus slips into your sign as well on Dec 1, upping the ante with social or romantic activity and spending. You'll want to look after 'you' or buy that something special, but keep an eye to the red and the black as you go. A Full Moon on Dec 2 brings excitement or change with partners or people close. Friends in particular will feature and there'll be a get together, a reunion or a fresh connection. You will join with people of like mind. The practical side will demand a look-in, as Mercury hits Capricorn on Dec 5. Under pressure, the messenger will test or challenge with finance and activities with friends or groups. If you have a special interest, what is it costing?
Encounters or ideas aplenty appear from Dec 7, and those of status or a radical or unusual viewpoint will feature. There'll be teachings or teachers. Dec 14 brings stress or unexpected changes with home or family, so steady the ship by remaining calm. You can upgrade your image or revamp your style with a New Moon in your sign on Dec 16. Prepare for a shift with personal connections. Once again, home will be the arena for a little turmoil as arrangements with visitors or fiscal concerns hit a choppy sea on Dec 20. As Mars reverses in Leo the same day, the horizon will narrow or 'long term' plans will hit disruption or delay. Temper activity by dealing with what is possible and don't take risks with legals or travel. Male company will be testy or testing.
The next day brings the Solstice and the Sun to Capricorn, focusing on money, but interesting or enticing communications or connections will work their way into your life as well. As Venus hits Capricorn on Christmas Day, get your head out of the clouds and deal with what needs doing. Delay or disruption will affect arrangements, especially as Mercury reverses on Boxing Day. Festivities will flow from flexibility and expecting the unexpected. Family or fiscals will come to a cyclical end as a Cancer Full Moon brings a Lunar Eclipse to see in the New Year.
Mercury Retrograde
After weeks of talk, Dec 5 sees Mercury in Capricorn and your house of money, joining Pluto and squaring Saturn. Don't make extravagant plans! Lean towards the lean as you head into the festive season. If you can't do what you want, do what you can. Discussion with fiscal folk won't bring the results you want. Bright ideas will come on Dec 24 and you'll make the links to advance. Don't take off like a rocket though, as Mercury reverses on Boxing Day. You won't have to sell the presents on e-bay but you'll put a hold on the bigger plans. Conduct a stringent fiscal review and don't go off like a firework over money on New Year's Eve. Turning Down the Gauge
Venus hits party mode as she rolls into your sign on Dec 1. You'll celebrate, socialize, hit a romantic lift, buy gifts (unavoidable really), or treat yourself. Don't indulge but enjoy. A fritz with home or family pressures turns up the heat on Dec 20, then the goddess swans into sober Capricorn, battening down the hatches of extravagance and testing the family finance with a square from Saturn and a union with Pluto. It's time to sing a chorus of 'you can't always get what you want' and focus on what you need. Hold on to what you have for worthwhile goals.
Mars Retrograde
With Mars in Leo, you'll want to stretch the Centaur legs, taking in the fresh air, a far horizon and a shot in the arm from the big wide world. Males will feature in your dealings, especially if study, travel or legal matters are involved. However, the forward impulse will falter as the warrior reverses on Dec 20. Are you getting enough fresh air or exercise? Are you held back with travel or study? There'll be frustration in the air and, if you're OS, don't give lip to guards, police, or feisty males. You'll feel hemmed in if you can't broaden your horizon, or get on the move. Gear back, stretch the mind for new plans but don't allow anxiety to let you overreact. Read more on Mars Retrograde!
